Pre-Orders & Wait Lists

Kobold's Keep does "Preordering" just a little differently than other places. 

First off, we never take any money for preorders. No down payment, no paying for the full amount up front. We just take down what you're interested in getting a hold of and going from there. We're not charged up front for our orders, so our customers shouldn't either. (Plus, refunds can be really tricky!) 

Secondly, this is not a guarantee of product. For those hot ticket items like One Piece TCG or Pokemon, it can be difficult to get even half of what we order through distribution. We usually put limits of 1x SKU per customer and try to find means of equitable distribution, but sometimes the demand outweighs the availabilty. We don't want to over-promise and fail to deliver, so another reason why we don't take any money at the get go. 

With that being said, to get a preorder in, use any of the followng methods:

  • Calling the Store at 775-420-5300 (Only when open, do not leave a voice mail!)

FAQ: 

Is it too early to preorder [x]? Nope! It's never too early! Once you know about it, you can give us a ring to let us know about how you're looking forward to a box of [whatever your heart desires here]. 

Is it too late to preorder [x]? Maybe! If the hottest new set releases on Friday and you give us a call a day before, please note that you're effectively at the end of the proverbial fast pass line. Your preorder will then be relegated to a 'wait list'. 

I didn't get a call, does that mean I lost my preorder? You can always double check with us by giving us a quick call on release day. We probably typo'd your number, or we just got a full voice mail, or someone thought we were a spam caller. It happens! We hold onto your preorder for about a week if we can't get a hold of you, because we get it. Life Happens. Only after a few reasonable attempts and a week+ do we finally give up and put the box for either general sale, or the next person on the wait list. Due to how limited allocation is, if you didn't get a call it is most likely that you've been put on the wait list. 

What are the limits to what I can preorder? Basically, anything that isn't Region Exclusive, Tournament Exclusive, Event Exclusive, or other 'exclusive' items. Anything that has also released is also not up for preorder*. 

What's stopping me from preordering from [other store in town]? Nothing! In fact, we encourage you to shop local! Get as many preorders as you can, wherever you can! Some of this stuff is hard to come by. 

How much are you charging for [x]? We will always check with MSRP first. If there's no known MSRP for booster boxes, we will just do [MSRP Booster Price] x [# of boosters in the box] -10% (Box Discount!) = Total. We charge the state sales tax at time of purchase as well. 

I preordered late/got on the wait list/just plum forgot, how can I get product? We keep everyone's recorded order around for about 2 years. You never know when reprints or restocks hit, and if we get extra boxes in, we defer to this wait list before general sales. 

Wait List? With how crazy things are with some product, we default everyone waiting for product to be put into a wait list (according to time of preorder made). We will always go down the line if we get restocks.
